This great blue heron is stalking prey in the shadows. Painted in oils almost exclusively with a palette knife, the heron stands out from the dark shadowy background. An underpainting of cobalt blue peeks through the knife stokes, bringing interesting color and continuity to the piece.

"I love to take ordinary subjects and transform them into something beautiful. Realistic, yet creative, my colorful oil paintings of regional images inspire and stimulate reminiscence of fond memories and experiences. I love getting lost in the creation and then having something beautiful to show for it. I try to paint from the heart, with subjects that have meaning to me. My work is fluid and ever changing as I grow along with my art. I still teach, but paint whenever I can find a free moment.
